CORN DAY!

The day before our Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the first graders celebrated "Corn Day!" It was a day full of activities centered around CORN of course! They rotated to different stations where they were able to do such things as "plant corn" and "make a corn pattern." Here is Brandon and Sarah having a great time. They wore Target bags on their backs like a backpack so they could put all their creations in them.

Here is Brandon with the corn he planted. We will have to wait and see if it grows! ;)
I was busy teaching fourth grade that day but I was able to sneak out and snap a few pictures of this cute clan! I just love my little man right in the middle of all his friends! I could tell that these first graders had a great time learning about corn and celebrating the day. :)
These little turkeys are going to be the kids place settings at our Thanksgiving dinner. I wanted to make enough for all of Brandon's classmates but these five took up too much time! Gobble Gobble!

A Spook-tacular Night!

Our Halloween was filled with many treats this year. We spent the whole day and night at Papa John and Nana's house in Newport. We had the best time! Above is Mr. Jack-o-Happy. Brandon designed the face and I did the carving. After looking at it for one second he said, "He looks great! Let's call him Jack-o-Happy!"

Brandon and his puppy had matching Batman costumes.
Brandon was not too sure about my black lipstick and heavy eye make-up. After a while he came around though and told me he thought I was a pretty cool witch.
Papa John the bat! Love it!

Trick-or-treating was awesome. All the decorations were so spooky and fun.

Here is all the loot!
Cavities here we come! ;)
BEAUTIFUL Nana and cute kids, all in bone P.J's!

More Halloween Fun!

Brandon enjoyed the Halloween festivities in his class today. All I can say is that their was lots and lots of sugar!
I made some ghost cookie pops for his friends. They were very spooky!
Later we went for an early trick-or-treat excursion to Grandpa and Mary's house. Brandon "flew" all they way there.

Little Monsters...

We were lucky enough to attend the "Little Monsters" event at Disney's California Adventure a few days ago. Brandon had an awesome time hanging out with cousins, trying out two rides for the first time (Soaring Over California-loved it- and Mulholland Madness- hated it) and staying up really late!

Such awesome memories. :)

Ward Halloween Party!

Brandon had a great time at our ward Halloween party. I am pretty sure that his favorite thing was the "trunk or treat!"

Festival Time!

This weekend we went to two different festivals. One was at Brandon's school (which I don't have pictures of, darn!) and the other was at Cal Poly. Brandon had a great time at both of them. Some of the activities that the kids got to participate in were- a bounce house, a big slide, carnival type games and a hay maze.

Brandon and Lily both won little pumpkins!
Fishing for treats!
It was so super hot (98*) that we HAD to have a snowcone!

The man in charge told us that there were 30,000 pumpkins there! Brandon found a really nice one to take home and carve.
Can't wait for Halloween!

A few things...

I guess I was not thinking ahead when I created this blog and gave it the address of: "Brandon's Adventures in Kindergarten." Apparently I was not thinking that first grade would ever come! Well, it's here now and so therefore I had to change the header to simply "Brandon's Adventures." Much more fitting. The address will remain as it is- oh well, you live and learn right? :) My little first grader has been having many adventures lately. This change of schedule and additional hours of school time has left my sweetie very, very tired. The second week of school was disrupted by three absences due to rash and blisters. We began last year with a rash too! Crazy. Brandon is really liking his teacher and I am excited to help out every other Tuesday with workshops. I was able to teach is class once so far but it happened to be on a day he was absent! Darn. I am sure I will have many other opportunities to be the sub for his class. Brandon is doing great in school, always excelling above my expectations. Here is his first spelling test! So cute! He did really well. ;)
Here are his numbers from 1-100. Precious.

The other day my lil chef helped me make whole wheat bread. He loved kneading the dough! It turned out to be so yummy. He was very proud!
On one of the three days that he was "sick" with a rash, we went down the the beach and spent the day having fun! Brandon's favorite part was eating at Ruby's on the pier...just the two of us.
I am looking forward to another great year at our wonderful school! I love Sumner Elementary and am so thankful that my guy is able to attend there. Brandon, you are awesome.
